Not to be a downer, but please exercise caution whenever you’re wiring money or emailing sensitive information. I feel so sad for this couple in the news link below. There are many more like them when it comes to “wiring to escrow” scams.
Please call the escrow agent independently before wiring money, and make sure it’s actually their phone number. They can even give a fake phone number in fraudulent wire instructions.
Please call your agent if you need to triple check. Scammers are complete criminals and it’s a very popular scam now.
